In 2000, Jerry expanded his portfolio by purchasing Turf Paradise, a historic horse racing track in Phoenix, Arizona. Since its inception in 1956 by Walter Cluer, Turf Paradise has been a staple in the local sports community, but under Simms' ownership, it underwent a dramatic transformation. He invested $5 million in renovations that modernized the facilities and added amenities like an advanced equine swimming pool, significantly enhancing the venue's offerings and the well-being of the horses. Philanthropy has played a significant role in Simms' life. He has been a fervent supporter of various charitable organizations within Arizona, including Phoenix Children's Hospital, Saint Mary's Food Bank, and United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arizona.
